Cabaret by The Deadly South

Cabaret by The Deadly South is the annual cabaret season produced by The Deadly South held in Milton NSW. 

 

Cabaret by The Deadly South was designed to give creatives of all disciplines a paid opportunity to develop, experiment and showcase their craft. 

 

Run weekly each Thursday night in March performing artists are required to create something new or adapt something existing for their performance in response to the night's theme.  

Each show night features a mix of amateur, emerging and professional artists with the latter top and tailing the night. For many of our amateur artists, this is their first performance opportunity. 

Our 2022 season featured over 30 different artists. Multi-disciplinary in nature acts included comedy, mime, circus, poetry, music, speed-painting and much more. 

 

Our 2022 season sold out with the community response to these events is unparalleled to anything we have seen so far.

Our audience members have told us they feel “uplifted, moved and connected”, they “ love the atmosphere, it was fun and entertaining” and they feel “amazed and excited”. Our audience has varied greatly in age ranging from 12 year old’s watching their idols perform to 85 year old’s grinning and bopping along to rap acts. We have been told by our audience that they’ve never seen anything like this in the Milton-Ulladulla region and we have been told by countless patrons that we must keep Cabaret going. 

Our participating artists have said “Cabaret means my world expanding. I leave this place with a whole different vision of this world. I come into my other performances with more confidence”, Cabaret means “Growth, exposure and new beginnings” and “It’s so nice to see a community vibe coming together on the south coast.” Our performers have also varied greatly in age and ability - from a 16-year-old performing live for the first time to a seasoned 82-year-old bush poet. We aim for our performers to be an accurate reflection of the wide range of people who live in the area. 

 

Cabaret by The Deadly South is expected to run in March 2023 held at Seeking Serendipity Bar & Kitchen in Milton.
